Explore & Learn
A Learning Adventure Inside Sydney’s Icon
Students journey through the BridgeMuseum begins on the engineering level, where they explore the science, technology and engineering principles behind the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Their visit continues to the SkyHouse, offering harbour views that support learning about Sydney’s geography and built environment. In the artefact space, students examine original objects and historical evidence that deepen their understanding of the Bridge’s past. The excursion concludes with an immersive experience that brings key events in the Bridge’s history, construction and cultural significance to life.

Buses and coaches are permitted to set-down and pick-up passengers on Cumberland Street between Essex Street and Gloucester Street. There are two designated short-term zones, suitable for pick-up and drop-off only:
- Beside YHA Sydney Harbour, 110 Cumberland Street
- Directly beneath the Cahill Expressway overpass, approximately 80 metres from the entrance of the ShangriLa Sydney
After set-down, the school group will walk to the Bridge’s pedestrian walkway to reach the BridgeMuseum. This is only a couple of minutes’ walk from both coach zones.
Access to the Bridge’s pedestrian walkway is available via either the stairs or the lift opposite The Glenmore Hotel, 96 Cumberland Street.
From there, it’s an 8–10 minute walk north along the pedestrian walkway to the BridgeMuseum.
Bus and coach parking zones are available at:
- George Street, near Dawes Point Reserve
- Argyle Street, at Kent Street
Due to space restrictions, we’re not able to offer bag storage inside the Museum. We recommend that students bring a small backpack if they need to carry personal items.
However, we do have bag storage available at BridgeClimb Sydney, 3 Cumberland Street, The Rocks.
If your group would like to use this, just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll be happy to arrange it.
Students can bring their own water bottle which can be re-filled in the BridgeMuseum.
Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. If it’s raining, we recommend a raincoat or poncho as open umbrellas are not permitted at the SkyHouse.
Yes. Our exhibits and activities support learning outcomes across History, Geography and STEM. Teachers will receive a curriculum linked resource pack ahead of their visit.
A typical school visit lasts 60 minutes, depending on group size.
Currently, we’re only offering self-guided visits, however, we’re planning on introducing Guided Tours in the future.
If you’re interested in Guided Tours, please let us know via our enquiry form and we’ll be happy to keep you updated.
We recommend that students fuel up before their visit, as we unfortunately don’t have enough space for groups to sit and enjoy snacks or lunch on-site.
We do have event spaces at BridgeClimb Sydney on Cumberland Street (about a ten-minute walk from the Museum) that we can reserve for your group if you’d like a dedicated spot for a lunch break, or we can also arrange a lunch pack.
At the Museum, you’ll find a small gift shop that sells cold bottled water. BridgeClimb Sydney offers a wider range of food, drinks and snacks should you need additional options during your visit.
Photography is permitted. Teachers will be advised of any restrictions on the day.
We offer special discounted school rates. Please see the prices above.
School bookings can be made through our form below or by contacting our Education Team at [email protected]
When booking, please let us know your preferred date, whether you’d like a morning or afternoon session, the number of students attending, your school name, and your contact details.
We recommend booking early, especially during peak excursion periods.
